Who We Are?

meet your captain

Keith Klingele

There was a time when I awoke each morning and did just what everyone, including myself, expected me to do. Sent my daughters off to school, worked the farm raising wine grapes and tree fruits in the Yakima Valley of Washington State. I knew what to do. It was predictable, familiar, and secure. I enjoyed what I was doing and was good at it. Who doesn’t enjoy doing things that they’re good at? But something wasn’t right. It was time for a change.

My story

The girls grew up, went to college and I sold the vineyards and orchards. In 2011, I purchased Mirage and began a new episode in my life. It’s not predictable or familiar. Not at all! It’s challenging and exciting in ways that I could never have imagined. I awake each morning and do what most people thought I couldn’t.

While still in college at Washington State University, I began kayaking and mountain climbing. Kayaking took me to destinations from Florida to British Columbia before I settled into my career. I’ve continued to hone my skills as a kayaker. Sailing is my passion, however, I am learning to kite board and windsurf and hope to incorporate those activities on Mirage.

I use my skills as a craftsman and lifelong outdoors-man to captain Mirage and guide kayak excursions. More than anything, I enjoy showing people how to safely experience adventure and the outdoors with a passion, like I do. I believe in the lure of immersing oneself in the world of water and wind. I do just that every day for months on end. And when I do, I am at home.

I invite you to experience a change of scenery and join me on Mirage for a voyage of fun and adventure. Welcome to my home, Mirage.
